Dr. Mariano is a Professor and Vice Chair in the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine at Stanford University and is Chief of Anesthesiology at the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System. He has published over 300 articles and is a recipient of the John D. Chase Award for Physician Executives Excellence, Distinguished Service Awards from ASRA Pain Medicine and ESRA Spain, and Distinguished Educator Award from ASA and the Society for Education in Anesthesia. He is a past Director, spring meeting Chair, and newsletter editor for ASRA Pain Medicine.
